What drives HVAC replacement cost in DFW
Two quotes for the same house can differ substantially — usually because they include different scopes of work, not because one company is overcharging.
Cost is a scope question first
A replacement quote can mean anything from swapping a condenser to redesigning the duct system, correcting return-air sizing and commissioning the equipment to measured targets. Before comparing prices, compare what each proposal actually includes.
- Equipment capacity and how it was determined
- Efficiency level (SEER2, HSPF2) and staging technology
- Duct repair, sealing or replacement included in the scope
- Line set, electrical, pad, drain and permit work
- Commissioning and post-install verification
Why sizing changes the price
Capacity determined by a load calculation reflects the house as it is: insulation, leakage, glass, orientation and duct condition. Envelope improvements can reduce the calculated load, which sometimes allows smaller and less expensive equipment.
What Citadel does before quoting
We evaluate the home first, document what we find, and present options with the reasoning attached. Pricing for your home is provided in writing after the assessment — we do not publish a price list that ignores the building.
